An Apex technology company is looking to fill 100 new roles, an initiative that also creates opportunities for individuals with a criminal history.
The initiative also reflects the philosophy of LiveSwitch founder and chairman Brian Hamilton, who has spent decades advocating for entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals through his nonprofit, Inmates to Entrepreneurs.
LiveSwitch plans to hire 100 people in the Triangle for business development representative positions, and it expects additional customer success and product roles as the company continues to scale.
LiveSwitch provides real-time video communications technology and an AI-powered platform for businesses.
LiveSwitch serves customers ranging from small businesses to nationwide chains across industries including home services, moving, self-storage and property management, with a global footprint spanning all 50 states and international companies.
The company is also continuing to expand outside North Carolina, recently adding an office in the Salt Lake City area and maintaining operations in India as part of its broader growth strategy.
The second-chance hiring initiative supports LiveSwitch’s expansion and reflects a mission that company leaders say has long been central to its culture.
“LiveSwitch believes in second chances,” LiveSwitch said in a statement. “As an organization, the company has long-standing employees with past records who have built successful careers and contributed meaningfully to the company’s growth.”
Among those employees is Robert Teasley, who joined LiveSwitch four years ago after struggling to secure employment because of a prior conviction.
“The most frustrating part of the job search for me was being highly qualified for a position but immediately disqualified by a standard background check,” Teasley said. “I lived that cycle repeatedly until LiveSwitch gave me a shot.”
Teasley said the opportunity shaped his view of what employers can accomplish when they look beyond an applicant’s past.
“This company changed the trajectory of my life by measuring me on my performance, not my history,” he said. “Now, as we scale our sales team, we’re proving that second-chance hiring isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s a massive competitive advantage.”
LiveSwitch is also partnering with NCWorks as part of the initiative. The company’s open positions will be listed through the state’s workforce development network.
LiveSwitch said hiring for the business development positions will begin immediately. The company expects to add additional roles as it continues to grow its workforce and expand into new markets.
